In this second of the Art Box series, Lead Instructor Michelle Headrick AIFD PFCI FDI focuses on the happiest flower of summer - the sunflower! With some assistance from a few chrysanthemums and a clever technique with lily grass just one sunflower can really make a statement.

Beargrass

Most floral designers are familiar with the foliage of Beargrass, but few have worked with or even seen the blossom. A member of the lily family Beargrass has a dramatic and highly fragrant blossom. It is not grown commercially and only occasionally harvested from the sub-alpine areas of the Pacific Northwest. The Beargrass blossom combined with its’ foliage and a piece of weathered forest wood combine to make a beautiful design.
