Halloween parties demand flowers to make it extra special. This design, a statement that everyone will be talking about.

The materials, you can see I'm surrounded by beautiful flowers. Everything came from Florabundance.com. I'm going to focus on the orange this time for Halloween. Then I went to my treasures, and I had this lovely witch. I don't know if lovely is appropriate, but that's what I'm going to call her, my lovely witch. This is foraged, repurposed, upcycled, it's a lighting fixture. It works perfect. I just use a single UGlu strip and place that on the base, winding it around to get some security. Then a 6" design tray with foam anchored in place using an anchor pin. I'm just sliding that in, securing it. Now, it'll be deliverable. The glue will hold it in place. The witch, using a bit of silver metallic wire, sliding her in, and then just binding that directly to the fixture, letting her hang above.

I've scored the corners of the foam to make it easier to hide my mechanics and insert the stems. Then I start with vine maple, perfect for the autumn season, cutting it down. As it dries, it'll crinkle, dry out, get almost ruffly. Should be perfect for Halloween. It's going to come outside of the lamp and also tucked in, making sure I keep it low enough that I don't conceal my witch, but adding in to get rid of some of the foam that would show, although midnight foam hides even easier. With it being Halloween, the black is quite appropriate. Bring in some of the colorful leaves around to the back and then adding in some mountain ash. The berries in the vibrant orange, so grand. Giving it a cut and whittling a bit. It's a woody stem and it will drink better if you whittle down. I'm letting it come out and then carrying the eye in. Then for longevity, chrysanthemums in this deep burgundy hue, cutting them down and then placing them together. It's just one insertion tucked low for a little color contrast.

Once the base is established, then you want to fill in the emphasis. Use the more wonderful blooms that capture your attention. Pincushion protea, so grand. They're very stiff and hard, so snapping it and then cutting and tucking it in, creating a focus right at the front and repeating that. You get a little bit shorter this time. I'm tucking it in. Then with a party centerpiece, you definitely want to finish the back because people may be looking at it from all sides. So, bringing one back to the opposite side to draw the eye through. One of my favorite materials for Halloween, I know it sounds silly, but sandersonia, with its little balloons, so grand, but I remove the green, take all the leaves off, so then it looks like little hot air balloons just flying through the sky. Perfect to add with the witch.

The recipe, everything came from Florabundance.com. It's such a delight to just sit at the computer anytime of the day or night and place the order and have it show up at your door. How fabulous is that? I started with vine maple. That was my base. Then mountain ash. Then for the flowers, three pincushion protea, three stems of spray mum, and then five stems of the sandersonia. Simple and elegant when paired with the witch.
