Description: Dainty, multi-petaled, funnel-shaped flowers.

Color: Very wide variety of Red, Pink White, and bi-colors

Botanical facts: Named after Captain William Clark (1770-1838). Clarkia Amoena is a flowering plant native to western North America, found in coastal hills and mountains from British Columbia south to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Design notes: Good mass flower. Can also be used as a filler flower.

Purchasing hints: Purchase when buds are closed, but at least 1/4 of the buds are showing color.

Conditioning: Remove all foliage that will be below the water line. Cut two inches off of the stem ends with a sharp knife. Hydrate in a solution of water and commercial floral food for two hours before storage or usage.

Additional notes: Godetia, (goh-DEE-she-ah) comprises a subgenus of Clarkia. Chill sensitive, cold temperatures can cause Godetia blossoms to turn bluish or transparent.
